Junior Development Academy
Belmont Cricket Club is expanding it's Junior Development Academy for the upcoming 2015/16 cricket season. The academy is open to all talented cricketers 15 years and under in the Lake Macquarie region. It is an elite 15 place squad with the aim of developing each individuals cricketing ability and preparing them for an eventual transition to the NDCA senior grade competition.
The Sqaud will play in the NDCA U15 T20 competition which is played on Sundays over 5 rounds plus finals. These rounds do not conflict with any junior representative commitments. Academy players will recieve specialist individualised coaching from the Senior club coaching staff as well as being mentored by current and former club first graders. The aim of this is to achieve success in the U15 T20 competiton and to ensure that they have the skills and confidence to make the transition to senior cricket; whenever that may be.
Academy members are not required to play senior cricket on Saturdays and are not expected to change junior cricket clubs. Once the season starts the Academy will train on turf every Tuesday untill the T20 competition ends. Opportunities may arise throughout the season to play lower grade cricket but that will be a case by case basis.
BCC will be holding trials for the Development Academy at Warners Bay indoor sports centre from 2pm each of these Sundays in September: 6th, 13th, 20th, 27th,
BCC also welcomes any parents with formal cricket coaching quaifications or high level cricket experience to be involved with the sqaud.
